Welcome!
In the course of preparing for the next conference, I have come across numerous interesting articles and news items which just show how contentious and debated the topics of Gen-Y and Social Media are.
There are so many different opinions that its hard to keep up with the shifting trends.
I will be posting these links on this blog, and also any updates about the conference – new speakers, booking information and so on.
For example, in The Times Technology section on Monday there was an article about the perils of laying all to bare on Facebook – if a recruiter sees your profile, it could affect your chances of being selected (whether this is fair or not is another matter…)
Keeping a cool profile on Myspace could cost you your next post
But what could a recruiter really gain from finding out about my favourite bands, how many friends I have and what I did (and how much I drank) at the weekend? Does it indicate there is something missing in their selection methods?
If you see anything relevant or interesting, please let me know and I’ll share it on this page.
Until the next time,
Luna
